Haven't done a Yarn Along in a couple of weeks! Mostly because I have just been pulling projects apart, rather than getting anything done.
The Calm Cowl has been ripped apart. The wool I was using, while 100% Aussie wool, was just too scratchy for me. I didn't want to keep going, knowing that I most likely wouldn't wear it.
I then started a vest for Leo using the same wool, because I knew it wouldn't be touching skin. I soon realised that it would more likely fit Roman, and then as I progressed, the bottom edge was on a serious lean, even though my stitch count was still correct...Not sure what happened there!! The pattern was from Little Crochet by Linda Permann. I might have to rethink this one!
I am also working on a gift for Kaleb's mum's birthday, on the 5th of April. She will be coming to visit us for a week, from the 12th of April, for Leo's 1st birthday. It is a lovely blanket with a crochet edging and a crochet pillow. I'll share a picture of that once I'm finished.
I am almost finished my Tv Cosy. Only 11 more squares to go, I hoped to do those today, but have woken up feeling quite under the weather. I think just a head cold.
I made my first ever order from Bendigo Woolen Mills yesterday. I am vowing to only use good quality wool for making some items of clothing for Leo and Roman (and hopefully a few nice things for myself). I am excited to be waiting for the postman!!
I am not reading any books at the moment, just the new Country Style Magazine. I love to flick through it's pages, sending myself off onto little daydreams!!
Autumn is well and truly here now in the evenings and early mornings (hence the head cold!), so the slow cooker has made it's appearance onto the bench. Tonight is Corned Beef Silverside with Creamy Potato Bake and Vegetables. Cannot wait!

ReplyDeleteI love the pile of squares. I do hope you post a picture of the finished product! (hint, hint!)
ReplyDeletetoo funny reading about your change of weather when in Northeast US we are wondering where spring went as we are strait into summer like heat.
I do hope you feel better quickly

Those squares are great, a TV cosy is such a good idea I'm looking forward to seeing it finished. I know what you mean about scratchy wool, I have been using the debbie bliss cashmerino yarn as it is super soft and snuggly but still all natural x
ReplyDeleteOoh... I can't wait to see how the TV cosy comes out :) It looks lovely!
