I love my growing collection of Japanese sewing books. I use them the most of all my sewing books and patterns. I've made clothes for myself, for the kids and gifts for friends and family.
I like that the clothes are often simple, classic shapes that are easy to sew and roomy and comfortable to wear.
I'm not a big fan of the style of clothes available for small boys in the shops and frankly, I don't fancy spending good money on clothes with skulls that have been made in Bangladesh.
The choice for boys patterns is somewhat slim though, which is why I choose to invest in these Japanese patterns and I've been looking into the world of French boys patterns too.
Something I really adore about these pattern books is the styling. If I'm looking for a hit of inspiration, I find a flick through them is helpful. As are my Pinterest boards, where I've collected hundreds (if not thousands!) of images, from clothes for women and children, homewares, and interiors.
My newest arrival is Linen Wool Cotton Kids and it has not disappointed! All the patterns are for girls, however, the focus on masculine pieces is a main feature and there are many patterns in here that are suitable for boys. A handsome, reversible vest, an elbow patch jacket and the old world suspender pants (shown above) are just some of the patterns I'm going to make.
As for the bottom photo, I could not leave this Japanese fabric behind once I'd spotted it. I purchased 2 metres and I'm not yet sure what I'll use it for.... I don't think my big boys will be persuaded to wear a garment made from it. I suppose I'll wait to see what sex our new baby will be (hopefully this Thursday!), and if it's another boy, I might use it for a fun project for myself!
Hope you have a great start to your week, we've had lots of rain here over the weekend so I'll be catching up on some loads of washing!

So many delightful things here. I especially love the bee fabric and the wrap around dress. I bet the whole family is so excited to find out the sex. Have a wonderful week and take care of yourself and your little gorgeous bub growing inside of you.
