September already?

spring is coming, spring is coming

birdies build your nest.

weave together straw and feather

doing each your best.

spring is coming, spring is coming

flowers are waking, too.

daisies, lilies, and daffodils

now are coming through.

all around is fair.

shimmer, glimmer on the meadow,

joy is everywhere.

I can't believe Spring has arrived already, after such a  disappointingly mild Winter. 

I never once had to get the extra blankets down from the cupboard. I rarely had to put socks on my feet. Oh well, there's always next year! And so the cycle of seasons goes round.

I've been doing a little garden work each day, mostly weeding and pruning. My back is in terrible shape at the moment and I need to be very careful with myself. 

 

 

A few weeks ago we were visiting a nearby town, Eumundi (You-mun-dee), and our favourite shop there is Berkolouw Books. I think we love it so much because they have a kids play area with a big toy box. Perfect for parents who want to browse the shop in a relaxed manner!

I happened upon this beautiful book, and I thought it would make a great addition to our nature bookshelf.

Apart from the wonderful content and layout, I was completely sold by the illustrations. Aren't they lovely?
