FOR TODAY

Outside my window... the sky is blue as blue, with big fluffy white clouds. A light breeze rustling the trees.

I am thinking... about dinner: Butter Chicken, Rice and Broccoli.

I am thankful... for getting the chance to drink my afternoon cuppa while it was still hot. This is a rare occurrence.

In the kitchen... is a big pile of dishes that aren't going to wash themselves.

I am wearing... house clothes. A skirt made from a bed sheet and an old shirt.

I am creating... 3 pairs of Quick Change Trousers for Caspian. Even though he needs nothing for the coming Winter, bar some vests, I though some new pants would be nice to add to the large pile of his brothers hand me downs.

I am going... to visit a friend tomorrow. She is expecting baby #3 soon, so hopefully she'll accept some help around the house from me.

I am wondering... how my boys can go through so much food and how we will afford to feed 3 teenage boys in the years to come.

I am reading... By the Shores of Silver Lake by Laura Ingalls Wilder

I am hoping... that I get a better sleep tonight.

I am looking forward to... Kaleb having this weekend off after a 9 day working "week".

I am learning... that binging on coffee is not good for me. I keep it in the cupboard for my Mother in Law to have when she visits, but sometimes I can't help myself. I need to stick with tea.

Around the house... is a lot of sorting. For the past 2 weeks I have been purging room by room and it's finally feeling less cluttered. I'm finding the less I have, the less I want.

I am pondering... homeschooling. We've decided that it will happen. But that we'll see out the end of Grade One. I feel a huge weight lifted off my shoulders and so does Roman. Going to school each morning was causing him stress and anxiety, resulting in nightmares every night.

A favorite quote for today... "When you find the peace within yourself, you find, you can be the kind of person who lives in peace with others"

One of my favorite things... feeling the change in the morning and afternoon air as Summer leaves and Autumn arrives.

A few plans for the rest of the week... visiting my friend, a trip to the library.

A peek into my day... folding undies for Leo, because we've said goodbye to nappies - hooray!!

  1. Butter chicken ...mmmm. One of our faves too.
I'm pleased for you all that you have made a happy decision re homeschooling. If it works for you then go for it. My husband was always keen on homeschooling for our son, but as he turned out to be an 'only' I always felt it was better for him to socialise. In our case it all went well and he loved school, is very social and now loves Uni. However from what I hear, homeschooling could be considered more social now with lots of group outings etc. Have fun!
    cheers Wendy

  3. I've been reading your blog for a few weeks now and just love it. I'm in my first full year of homeschooling and also mom to 3 boys. Homeschooling has been such a joy, certainly not without it's own stresses and frustrations but my boys are happy and home and it just feels right. I hope you will find that joy too!

    1. Thanks Eryn! I'm looking forward to more family time and less being a slave to the routine days we're currently in!
