:: his first wobbly tooth

:: savouring each nap. I think he's almost done with them.

:: Christmas morning. We had to wake Leo, in the end.

:: First Christmas

:: When the 2 yr old is quiet on Christmas Morning, he's probably painting Mama's bedspread!

I hope you all had a wonderful time with family and friends over the holidays! We had a very quiet Christmas Day and then spent Boxing Day with my Grandma, celebrating her 91st birthday.

Kaleb has a few more days off work, which we'll spend swimming and generally trying to keep cool as the temperatures are expected to soar over the next week.

:: lots of couch napping

:: a growing baby boy

:: celebrating Grandpa's birthday

:: another round of Chicken Pox

:: crafting and cherry eating

:: our beautiful rainbow tree

I've been making lots of Christmas treats this week. Rocky Road, Cookies, Apricot Balls - thank goodness it only happens once a year, it's disappearing into bellies as fast as can be!

Lots of delicious fruit going into our bellies too. Mostly cherries, but we're pretty partial to apricots and nectarines as well.

How's your December going?

I promised the boys that if they cooperated for a few photos, that I would take lots of them being silly. I think it worked as I had so many wonderful shots to choose from!

These are the ones we will print for our holiday cards, for family near and far.

I made the stripy pants for Roman and Leo. They are calling them the "Candy Cane" pants and I think they may be the go to pants for the Christmas season! Caspian's cute bloomers were made by a friend of mine. The crochet blanket was a wonderful find at the op shop last week for $4! And the "Merry Christmas" sign I found at a local craft store and painted red.

I took the photos on my IPhone and will get them printed by Origrami.

Kaleb was my assistant, jumping up and down behind me, yahooing and the like. Thank goodness we were in our own yard!

I hope the Christmas photo will become an annual tradition!

Advent & Chicken Pox

We remembered at the last minute that December was upon us. And so the ever faithful, wonky advent calendar went up with a few simple decorations.

Keeping advent simpler this year, particularly as Roman awoke on Sunday morning with the Chicken Pox (we've renamed them the Christmas Pox). He is feeling completely miserable today, and prone to moments of tears when it all gets a bit much. He's getting lots of hugs and love from us.

I did manage to get the Christmas Photo shoot done this morning, and I'm so pleased with how they turned out. I'll share them tomorrow.

Happy New Year!

I hope that everyone had a wonderful Christmas, whatever you did, and that you rang the New Year in with joy! (I fell asleep by 9:30pm). We don't really have any New Years traditions, but we do buy some sparklers for Roman to play with before he goes to bed. He runs around yelling Happy New Year, but didn't understand when I said that tomorrow will be a different year.

I can't believe how quickly December flew by. A blur of family, fun, food and exhaustion. The morning after all our guests departed, both our boys slept till 8:30am! It was so lovely and much needed.

I have been fiddling around with the blog, trying for something fresh for 2013, but I am not very blog savvy, so it may take me a little while to sort it out, I hope you'll bear with me.

Here's to a quiet, reflective New Years Day,

Oh Christmas Tree

My Dad delivered our Christmas Tree yesterday afternoon. It is the biggest one we've ever had, reaching all the way to the ceiling! It was growing less than 200 metres down the road, so I think that's pretty good "tree miles"! Typically I don't decorate the tree, preferring a simple Christmas decor.

Of course my Mother in Law thought a few little decorations would be fun for the boys, however within 5 minutes of them being on the tree, little Leo had grabbed one of the light up, singing reindeers and pulled the whole tree down on himself! Nanna brought a small plastic tree with her when she moved in so I've suggested her and the boys can set that one up downstairs where we are hosting Christmas Day lunch.

Do you have a real tree?

It's Christmas time....

We have been enjoying our simpler Advent season this year. So far we have read books, watched youtube clips of how Christmas is celebrated in other cultures, eaten candy canes, made egg carton trees, and today we have started the carols!

What sort of Carols are favourites in your home? I like a mix of traditional, like the one above, and modern, like Micheal Buble.

PS. One of my favourite bloggers, Melissa Wastney from Tiny Happy, has announced that she has a book coming out in April 2013! I think that it's no coincidence that April is also my birthday month! Hint, hint, Kaleb!!
