Today we joined in with the Barung Landcare group on their new venture called "Walks on the Wildside". This is a walking group specifically for families and each month will meet at a different location along the Blackall Ranges.

We spotted all sorts on our walk (around 1.5hrs) including an assortment of fungi, ginormous vines, flying foxes and 2 pademelons (3rd photo down). We also came across a nature photographer who was searching for fungi and had all sorts of equipment set up. The children were very fascinated by him!

Jill Morris is an Australian children's book author and is also the patron of the Barung Landcare group. She joined us on our walk today, through Mary Cairncross Reserve and generously handed out her books to the children in attendance at the end. Roman was very pleased to meet Jill, as we have many of her books on our nature table.

After such a full morning, I think the boys will sleep well tonight!

    1. Thanks Wendy! I have a quote that I love - "they only get 1 childhood, make it a good one" - we try and live that every day!

    1. It was icy cold in the forest! But winter really is the best time of year for bush walking!
