30 Day Hath November :: Days 18, 19 & 20

Day 18 :: What I wore today.

Well being that it was Sunday, I wore my PJ's all day long! And as much as I love each and everyone of you that passes by my little space here, I will never show you a photo of me in my daggy flannelettes!!

Day 19 :: Me 1 year ago.

This is another sad one... I actually don't have many photos of myself at all from last year. That's kind of why I have been doing the portrait a month challenge.

Day 20 :: Something that means alot to me.

This one was easy. My Marriage. I suppose like alot of people that marry young, I had a kind of fairytale view of marriage, even though my parents separated when I was 12. We have been married for only 5 years, but have already been through so many good and hard times, and I realise now that as wonderful as being married is, it takes a lot of work and patience!!

30 Days Hath November :: Day 17

Day 17 :: My family.

I already posted this photo, not realising that today was about my family! Ooops, here it is again!

Although my immediate family is on the smaller side, There is my Dad and Mum, an older brother (who has 2 boys) and a younger sister (who has 1 boy), I have a really large extended family.

My Dad is #2 of 9 and my Mum is #7 of 9. I only have one grandparent still alive, my Mum's Mum, she will be 90 in December and is still living in her own home.

In total I have 16 Aunts and Uncles (plus spouses), 37 cousins (plus spouses), 35 second cousins (plus spouses) and 4 third cousins. (Give or take a few!, It's hard trying to remember everybody)

I love having a big family and I'm looking forward to getting together with many of them on Boxing Day (Dec 26), to celebrate Grandma's 90th birthday!

30 Days Hath November :: Day 16

Day 16 :: Someone I admire.

Queen Elizabeth II. Although the relevancy of the monarchy is often debated in Australia, and most people have pretty strong views on both sides, I am a supporter and ardent admirer of this amazing lady.

30 Days Hath November :: Day 14

Day 14 :: Style inspiration for the season.

Thongs are a necessity here in the Summer. Havaianas are the only type I buy. Each family member has their own pair, some have many pairs ;)

A wide-brimmed hat is also important!

Some sunnies are a must... I always buy this style from Cotton On - 2 pairs for $20 - can't beat that

The last item I purchased was probably something boring like milk! So I'll show you the last lot of fabric I bought, instead.... All from Monaluna.

1 yard of each, and they are all so lovely!!

30 Days Hath November :: Day 11

Day 11 :: Three years ago today.

This photo of Roman was taken in October 2009! I am amazed at how much he has changed. He is about the same age here as Leo is now. They look so different from each other.

PS. Today is Rememberance Day

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them. Lest We Forget.

30 Days Hath November :: Day 10

Day 10: A favourite recipe.

Well I have shared my favourite recipe before, for Basic Muffins, you can find it here... (I'm actually eating one now, Yum)

I thought I would share a new "favourite" recipe instead.

A few weeks ago I tried my hand at making Risotto! It turned out so delicious, that I've wanted to make it every night since. But I knew that would eventually kill the yumminess of it, so I've restrained myself.

I found the recipe over at A Beautiful Mess. The only thing I added extra was some shredded BBQ chicken, because it needed to be used up. Risotto was a lot easier than I anticipated, and all that stirring was quite therapeutic.

I also had my first taste of alchohol since January 2010! An apple cider with mango and passionfruit! It was so yummy and I'm looking forward to a few more over the hot summer months...

30 Days Hath November :: Day 6

Day 6 :: A book you're reading

I'm not getting a stack of reading done at the moment, but as the weather warms up and I'm not so inclined to crochet or knit, I find I am picking up a book more and more. Leo is also getting to an age where he is really busy (almost 19 months) and he doesn't understand me saying, "I'll just finish this row", so I am finding that it is much easier to put my book down and help him with his needs, rather then the hook/needles. I'll save the more complicated projects for nap-times!

Today I started reading Farmer Boy by Laura Ingalls Wilder. I have been endeavouring to read all her books before my 30th birthday, and I am really loving them. Such quick easy reads, and so much insight into how life was lived at that time!

30 Days Hath November :: Day 5

Day 5 :: Hometown

I have to say that I have never been fond of my hometown, Nambour. It didn't have the greatest reputation as I was growing up, and we referred to it as Nam-boring and The Hole. But maybe that's just a typical teenager thing... to not like where you live?

When I was young, Nambour was a sugar town, with a large mill right in the centre and the sickly sweet smell that came with that. Cane burning every year meant some days everthing was blanketed in black ash. But the mill is gone now, as are most of the cane farms, and right now they are building a large supermarket and shopping centre on that site.

Currie St, Nambour

Moreton Sugar Mill last operated in 2003

Some uninteresting facts about Nambour!::

The 2011 Census recorded 18,134 residents.
The former Australian Prime Minister, Kevin Rudd, is from Nambour.
As is the current Deputy Prime Minister and Treasurer, Wayne Swan.
I was born at Nambour Hospital in 1983.
The name, Nambour, is derived from the Aboriginal word "naamba", referring to the red flowering tea tree.
The area was first settled in 1870. My Dad's side of the family settled in 1890. You could say I'm a local!

Well that's my hometown. I'm kinda glad I only go there once a fortnight. It makes me appreciate it more....

30 Days Hath November :: Day 4

Day 4 :: A Friend I Adore

Well this one might sound a bit sad.... but as much as I love the friends I have, I honestly couldn't say that I adore them! Is that mean?? I don't think so. I'm pretty happy to admit that the friend I adore the most is my Husband! Cheesy? Maybe..... But it's the truth......

30 Days Hath November :: Day 3

Day 3 :: Something you never leave the house without

I rarely leave the house without a well stocked basket. I am a mother of 2 small children after all!

Water bottles, spare clothes, nappies, hats, keys.... throw in a few snacks, a pacifier and some toy cars and we are good to go!

30 Days Hath November :: Day 2

Day 2 :: A Favourite Movie

I've though about this one a bit. I don't get to watch movies much anymore, especially without interruption from the littles.

I really love all sorts of films.
French ones, especially Amelie.
I like any movies by Alfred Hitchcock.
I love movies with dreamy men like Cary Grant or beautiful women like Grace Kelly (have you seen To Catch A Thief? 3 of my favourites in one, Hitchcock, Grant and Kelly)

I do like modern films too. And movies that come from a series, like Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings.

But I think it really comes down to 2 films. Both classics.

Breakfast at Tiffany's. Capote. Hepburn. Peppard. New York City.

and

Goldfinger. Sean Connery makes my heart flutter even now and he is in his 80's! And I have seen all the Bond movies, but Goldfinger is by far my absolute favourite.

And it has to be said that no one in my family likes to watch either of these two movies with me, as I know them line for line, and annoyingly, I like to talk along with the film!

What's your favourite film?

30 Days Hath November :: Day 1

I'm going to join in with Desiree over at So Fawned for her Annual 30 Days Hath November series!

Day 1 - Somewhere I'd like to travel

I have always, always wanted to go to Paris, France! For as long as I can remember, I have soaked in all things french. History, Art, Food, Film, Language, Architecture, Fashion. And I know that one day I will get there. My dream now is to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary with champagne at the top of Le Tour Eiffel!

What about you? Where would your dream destination be?
