There's a Super Moon on the rise...

Yesterday afternoon, while at the beach, all these photographers started showing up. I couldn't quite work it out.... a wedding? No. You don't need 6 photographers. Then I happened to look out to Kaleb and Roman down at the waters edge, and I saw the moon!! I was annoyed that I had only taken the Ipod and not the camera. You can just see the Super Moon above Kaleb's head.on rising to the right

Then when I got up early this morning to take Kaleb to work it was just going down behind the ranges.

Looking west from our house around 6am

Looking west from Dulong around 6.20am

The houses you can see here are in Mapleton, where my husband works.

Looking east from Dulong, at the sun rising around 6.20am

You can just see the ocean (and the town we live in is just below this range)

We live in an area just at the bottom of the Great Escarpment, the part of the Great Escarpment in our area is known as the Blackall Ranges. These ranges form the front of the Great Dividing Range, known collectively as the Great Eastern Ranges, which run up the east coast of Australia.

Did you see the Super Moon?

Why I Live Where I Live - Calgary, Canada

Some people live in amazing places! Some people think where they live isn't interesting at all. Chances are if you take the time to look around you, you'll be able to find something that makes you happy to live where you live. This series takes a peek into towns and cities from all around the globe.....

Name: Leetice

Where do you live: Calgary, Canada

How long have you lived there: 3 weeks

Is Calgary your hometown: No

Where is your hometown: I am from Nambour on the Sunshine Coast but recently (real recently) moved to Canada for a bit of a change.

Why are you living in Calgary: I thought while I was young and had no responsibilities I would pack up, quit my job and go travelling. I chose Calgary as I have some friends here and thought it would be a great start to my mini adventure. I plan to do more travelling throughout Canada and the U.S.

What's your favourite thing about Calgary: The cold weather, currently a high of -13

What's your least favourite thing about Calgary: The cold, as much as I love it it does restrict some of what you do.

What is the climate like in Calgary: Winters are very cold, and have been told that summer's are nice, will have to wait and see!

Is Calgary famous for anything: Banff and Lake Louise are within an hour drive from here.

Are there any community/cultural festivities that happen in Calgary: Stampede, a big rodeo/fair in the summer that lasts 10 days. I have been told the whole town/province stops for it!

What's the most interesting local attraction: Accent, ice hockey, and the snow on the ground.

Does Calgary have something BIG: Saddledome (big sport centre), it is in the shape of a saddle, Calgary Tower, and of course the Rocky Mountains.

Can you list 5 reasons why people should visit Calgary:
1. I am here!
2. Close to the Rocky Mountains
3. Easier to get into Canada than US
4. Beautiful scenery
5. Have I mentioned, I am here, and I can show you a good time.

Why I Live Where I Live - Gold Coast, Australia

Some people live in amazing places! Some people think where they live isn't interesting at all. Chances are if you take the time to look around you, you'll be able to find something that makes you happy to live where you live. This series takes a peek into towns and cities from all around the globe.....

Name: Ashlee

Where do you live: Robina, Gold Coast

How long have you lived there: 3 years

Is the Gold Coast your hometown: No

Where is your hometown: Jervis Bay, New South Wales

Why are you living on the Gold Coast:

I moved here after living on Hamilton Island in the Whitsundays, as a close friend grew up here and had moved back from the Island also. I did not want to go back to my very small hometown and did not want to live in a big city, so the Gold Coast was a happy medium.

What's your favourite thing about the Gold Coast:

The southern end of the Gold Coast has a real small beach town feel to it, just like my hometown, but then it has the best of both worlds with all you could want in the way of shopping, night life and entertainment.

What's your least favourite thing about the Gold Coast:

It lacks a little culture in some ways...it is getting there slowly, but I think it has long been overshadowed by the image of Surfers Paradise night life and the party lifestyle. There are more events and organisations introducing more arts, music and creative flair and there are many funky cafes and shops opening which is awesome!

What is the climate like on the Gold Coast:

Nice warm Queensland weather, humid in Summer but nowhere near as bad as the Whitsundays!

Is the Gold Coast famous for anything:

Beaches, night clubs and theme parks!!

Are there any community/cultural festivities that happen on the Gold Coast:

Surfers Paradise Festival, Ironman Series, numerous surfing competitions, Kokoda Challenge, Gold Coast Marathon! Always something going on!

What's the most interesting local attraction:

Meter Maids!!

Does the Gold Coast have something BIG:

Hhhhhmmmm BIG Rides!.....Scary

Can you list 5 reasons why people should visit the Gold Coast:

The Beaches, Theme Parks, The Hinterland, Shopping, Nightlife
