Yesterday, He turned 2!

Gosh I love him! He had the happiest birthday. Blew out his candles 3 times and loved everyone singing to him. I'll show you later in the week what presents I made for him.

Hope you had a wonder-filled weekend!

On this day in 1983....

Today I turned 30. I don't have any profound musings on entering a new decade. I did, however, have a brief breakdown last night, and had a good cry. I don't know why. But I felt better afterwards.

Kaleb and the boys greeted me this morning with breakfast in bed.
A lovely card with learner writing.
A brief nap on Mama.
Cupcakes and candles from my Mum.
Enjoyed by Leo.
Continuous rain turns our bedroom into a laundry.
Looking through the hanging washing at the beautiful Tibouchina (Glory Tree).

At The Movies...

My Mum gave Kaleb two movie tickets for his birthday last week. So, we seized the opportunity that  a public holiday brings, and asked Kaleb's Mum to watch the boys for us this morning.

It has been so long since I have been to a cinema, I think almost 2 years! Of course it was Kaleb's choice of film, so I was a little apprehensive. In the end, he chose well and I totally enjoyed Jack the Giant Slayer! Lots of funny lines, romance, action and disgusting giants! I love Ewan McGregor and he didn't disappoint in this film.

Jumbo Popcorn and Cokes at 8:30am? Well it was a treat!

What have you seen at the movies lately?

And now he is 5!

Happiest of 5th birthdays to my big boy, Roman! Today has been so much fun. I really love watching my children celebrate a day just for them.

We had all our family over this afternoon for afternoon tea and cake. It's so much more relaxing to celebrate just with family. No expectations, just good times enjoying each other and the birthday boy.

A Baby for Leo

Baby Leonardo will be turning 1 next week. I can hardly believe it! I have bought a few small things for his birthday and of course I will be making a few things for him too! He is very much into kissing and hugging at the moment and loves snuggling with different soft toys that he finds around the house. So with that in mind, I thought he would like a little baby to kiss and hug.

I got this lovely lime green woodland print quilting cotton at spotlight yesterday.
The little face is embroidered and the tuft of hair is a soft bamboo/cotton mix.

I hope he likes it!!

Yarn Along

Wow! I don't think I've put down the hook all week!! As the air cools here, I definitely start to feel motivated to get some hooky work happening. I finished some Cutie Patootie Pants (Little Crochet by Linda Permann) that I started ages ago for Leo, pity he won't fit into these now!! Will have to keep them for the next babe...

I am also making good progress on the TV Cosy squares, but I did forget how time intensive it is to sew all those squares together! So I'll keep plugging along at that one!

I also received my first order from the Bendigo Woollen Mills! Some Rustic 8ply 100% Wool in Green Tweed. This has already been started for some more Cutie Patootie Pants (long ones) for Leo in a bigger size and another pair in newborn size, for a friend , whose 3rd baby ( 3rd boy! ) will be joining their family in our Aussie winter. These 2 pairs of pants will also be my first attempt at lanolising. So if anyone has any great tips or sites for me to check out, I would really appreciate it!

(the top photo is the true colour of this wool)

I started 2 new books this week and while I realise this is highly ambitious of me, I'm definitely trying to put some time aside each evening before bed to read just one chapter.

Bookshop on Jacaranda Street by Marlish Glorie (fiction)

and

Hold Onto Your Kids (Why parents need to matter more than peers) by Gordon Neufeld and Gabor Mate (non-fiction)
I have been wanting to read this for ages and a friend kindly lent it to me!

Joining in with Ginny!!
You can also find me on Ravelry!!

Also:

Today was my Husbands 28th Birthday!!

We spent the afternoon eating cake (chocolate with whipped cream and crumbled Flake on top) and playing with the kids....

It's all in the details....

For Roman's little afternoon tea celebration, I told everyone by word, the details and then just sent out these little reminders in the post. I only had to make 5, which was great, as I handstamped all the dots and the lettering!

In an effort this year to use up some of the staggering amount of stashed materials and craft supplies (they really are taking over our garage!), I made a colourful circle garland out of craft felt. This will be useful for all sorts of celebrations.

Kaleb and I only give small amounts of gifts to our children (and ourselves), with the intention that they will learn to be grateful for the blessing of gifts rather than just expecting a truckload every year. Of course there are always gifts from grandparents, aunts and uncles and friends. This year Roman recieved some really wonderful gifts! We bought 1 gift, which was a soccer ball and then I made 2 gifts for him. The Pencil Roll was so easy to make and I used all materials that I had on hand including the pencils, which I bought on special some months ago. Pencil Roll tutorials are all over the net, but this one in particular came from the blog, Say Yes to Hoboken.

The other gift I made, was photographed, but I realised after it had been opened and used, that I didn't have the memory card in!! It was a playdough monster pack, that I originally saw on pinterest. Here is the original picture. To the playdough and googly eyes, I added cut up straws, mini craft pom poms and purple paddle pop sticks. Again all items I had on hand already.
So, all in all, apart from the food, I only spent $9.98 on gifts!

Happy Birthday

Today we celebrated Roman's 4th Birthday. I got up early (well the babe woke me up early) and came downstairs to hang the Birthday Banner and some balloons. When Roman came downstairs I sang ever so loudly and showered him with hugs and kisses. After opening his presents, he requested pancakes with syrup and "MQueen" (the Cars movie).

We went off for a little play at playgroup, where he unfortunately fell over and split his lip open.
Then it was back home to prepare for an afternoon tea party with some family and friends. Presents, party food, and a green Robot cake, made for a fun and exhausting (for me anyway) afternoon! I love birthdays :)

PS. My only regret is that I searched high and low for the Birthday Crown I made and could not find it anywhere. I am fairly certain it will turn up tomorrow....does that happen to anyone else?
